SEDIV Time Trial Mid-Year Report
SEDIV Time Trials Committee Report
Submitted by Craig Farr – Presented at SEDIV Mid-Year Meeting 7/16/16
The 2016 TT Championship Program has started off thru 3 events with 74 drivers competing in 29 classes. Overall in 2016, TT entries are down 18% from 2015.
TGPR entries were down 25%. The CCR Memorial Day TT entries at CMP following the SARRC weekend were down 39%. Dragon cut back to June only and saw 3% higher entries. Our TT website, www.sedivtt.com, provides a wealth of information about our TT program. Since there are 8 SEDIV TT Championship points events, it will take 4 events to qualify for the class championships and 6 events can be counted for points.
CMP weekend was challenged by Hurricane Bonnie that decided to parallel park off the NC/SC coastline and threaten stormy looking weather all day. However, other than a slightly damp and slippery track in the early sessions, it stayed dry and the sun peeked out momentarily during later sessions. Track time was not influenced by the storm and drivers continued until they ran out of tires or gas. Great track, and a good time for all who participated. The weather prediction for the day (90% chance of thunderstorms) likely had an impact on overall participation as there were only a handful of open-top cars. Several class records were set among the TT drivers which shows how competitive the combination of CMP and the current crop of drivers are when brought together.
In August, we will repeat the TT at Barber Motorsports Park in conjunction with a Double SECS/SARRC. For the first time in an SEDIV TT, we will have open passing in 2 Run Groups and restricted passing in one group. Charlotte will repeat in August. TGPR will return on October 1-2. The November 19-20 Roebling Road TT will be a dual race/points event and serve as the SEDIV TT Championship Series Runoff.
Overall, PDX entries are running the same as 2015. For the first time, Florida Region ran a PDX at PBIR. CFR sponsors 6 PDX at Sebring and Daytona. CFR believes that PDXs are a strong part of SCCA’s participation growth and is growing its program.

The SEDIV TT Committee sought assistance from the REs.
Getting Time Trials information to all of the potential TT drivers and Road Racers in SEDIV continues to be a challenge. While the members of the TT Committee are active in their Regions, what about the Regions where there is no TT Committee member? What can we do to improve that? We will be sending each of the REs information about the overall TT schedule and the SEDIV TT website, specific information about entering each TT event, and other TT information. We will be asking all of the REs to post this information on their websites, FaceBook, put the specific event information in their forums, and get it out to their mailing lists. While those Regions who have TT Committee membership can rely on their representatives, it is the other SEDIV Regions where we especially need assistance.
The SEDIV TT Committee revised the SEDIV TT SOP in order to be consistent with SCCA’s changes in the TT structure. It was approved by the REs.
The SEDIV TT Committee nominated Ted Theodore as the SEDIV DTTC representative to replace Craig Farr. The REs approved.
